Could some one please give me the phonetic pronunciation for torc cairdiúil The Friendly Boar

"the" is "an" so: "an torc cairdiúil.
Pronounced roughly "uh tork kahr-jool".
The r's are pronounced as in Spanish.

Just to add to Lughaidh's excellent explanation...in "cairdiúl" the emphasis is on the first syllable (at least in Ulster and Connacht...I think it may be on the second in Munster).

That's right; the stress is on the 2nd syllable in Munster Irish.

It sounds roughly like car-DYOO-il

Yeah, knowing Spanish really helps my Irish pronunciation.

* edit: A knowledgeable person has just informed me that caradach is the word for "friendly" that is used in Munster Irish by Peadar Ua Laoghaire.

I think "caradach" also exists in Donegal.

And the "d" in Munster Irish is never pronounced as a "j", its always pronounced as a "d" sound.
