'Comhlá breithe sona duit'

Has anyone ever come across this phrase before as a way of saying 'happy birthday'? I never have and am wondering if it is correct.

Looks like the Scottish Gaelic formula, written in an Irish way. In Scottish G it is "co-latha breith sona dhut" (or "co-là breith sona dhut") :)

It seems that it may not be suitable to have on a card then? It is for a local shop owner who has never supplied Irish language products before so I don't need anything controversial or she's likely never to do it again!

Normally "happy birthday" is "Lá breithe sona" in Irish :)

That is certainly what I use too. These Conemara folk and their notions! :twisted: (I added that especially for Bríd!!)

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.
