When I was a teenager (1940s and 50s) we always referred to a girl's "bush" as her muine bheag.
I don't know what the people of Muine Bheag (Little Shubbery) think of that!

Muing fliuch... I don't know if it's used much any more - and I blush to write this - but minge is a vulgar slang term in British (and Irish?) English for a woman's...er...pubic hair. :oops:

Where is that 'utterly offended smiley' that is so badly needed around here? I'll have you know that I ask an innocent question and the smutty community around here drag the topic to the depths of distaste (I hope the alliteration for added effect is appreciated here). It's no wonder so many of this lot have been banned elsewhere; they clearly lowered the tone!! :twisted:

The English word could easily have come from the Irish word and meaning there.
I've never heard either expression. I must have had a very sheltered upbringing.

(I have heard "muing" in the horse's mane context alright)
