If it's in a house:

seomra fóntais "utility room"

In a hospital:

seomra na n-uirlisí glana "clean utility room"
seomra na n-uirlisí salacha "dirty utility room"

I'm glad you asked too because I wouldn't have known what a "utility room" is. Thanks to you I think I've found a new appellation for the room that used to be a bathroom but now houses a host of appliances and cleaning equipment.

What the Devil is a lumber room? Sounds like something a Lumberjack might have in his house

Lumber used to be a sort of general name for things that took up space, such as pieces of furniture srl, that you didn't have a use for that you would put away in an unused empty room.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

I never knew that either, but it would explain the old expression "I don't want to be lumbered with that." Thanks for teaching us our language, a fhrainc! :good:

In North Carolina we had "mud rooms," which were originally vestibules in which you'd leave your muddy boots, damp jackets, etc. upon entering the house, but grew to serve as utility rooms (the place were the washer, dryer, and fuse box lived, as well as where you stored things such as brooms and mops).

I don't have a mud room here in California, more's the pity (sure could use one!)...just a utility closet and a tiny, tiny laundry room!
