Anyone got any idiots guides to Munster Irish? My fiance is from Munster and she has trouble understanding my Ulster influenced Conamara Irish (such has been my learning materials) and Id just like to make it a wee bit easier for her cos we speak Irish everyday but its only in odd sentences and I would like to speak more without her getting frustrated trying to understand me and reverting to English.

There's a page on Wikipedia about Munster Irish with some simple information. I was reading it a few minutes ago trying to find out more about synthetic verb forms in Kerry Irish.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munster_Irish

It's not a complete guide by any means, but it's something easy to get you started while you wait for better sources.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

Perhaps try with more normal sentences.

Always wait for at least three people to agree on a translation, especially if it’s for something permanent.

My translations are usually GU (Ulster Irish), unless CO (Standard Orthography) is requested.

lol it would help speaking in normal sentences, we're both far from fluent so its probably the blind leading the blind! The other night she was telling me I was wrong when I say '"a'am" instead of AGUM for agam. I told her it's Conamara Irish, she said "your not from Conamara". Fair point.

You're not from Connemara so you aren't allowed to speak Connemara Irish? Come on... so when you're from Dublin you are only allowed to speak Dublin English? That would be strange (and sad)! Of course, if you say "a'am" in the middle of a Corca Dhuibhne or Cloghaneely Irish sentence, it would be strange. But if you speak Connemara Irish, no problem!
