Would it be incorrect to say, "Bródúil as a bheith Éireannach" for "Proud to be Irish"? Or would Gaelach be more proper? If I really wanted to get specific, could I say, "Bródúil as a bheith Éireannach agus Albanach" for "Proud to be Irish and Scotch"?

Personally, I don't think there is anything incorrect about either of those. (Gaelach kind of covers both, plus the diaspora.)

We really haven't got three in agreement yet, and it is definitely a good idea to wait for that for anything permanent.

When I had a look at the phrase in an old font, the a looked out of place and I think it may have crept in from other phrases I have learned in the third person, i.e., about _his_ being Irish, etc.

The following is probably better:

Bródúil as bheith Gaelach

In any case, wait for three to agree on anything permanent.

Don't worry, Breandán, its going to be a little while before I get it done, anyway, at least a couple months. I have other work I can get done before I do that particular one, and I will check back here before I get I do, thanks for the 'heads up'. So far the only one I've gotten done is a shield with a Celtic cross in it, and about it it says "Éire". While I'm thinking about it, what is the policy here on posting pictures?

That's very interesting! Thank you, Caoimhín! If you only speak Irish gaelic or Scots gaelic, how hard is it to understand the other? Are they similar enough to understand each? I don't know how much gaelic is spoken in Scotland, but I have wondered if I went there, and was able to speak Irish, if I'd be able to understand Scots gaelic.
