Normally what people say in Donegal is "condáidh" /kondaj/, not condae not contae as in other dialects

This came up in another thread, and I didn't want to go off topic, and it shows up in the song lyrics as well. The word go has always been a source of confusion for me studying Irish. Does it have an exact meaning? When I look it up, the meaning I get for it is "until", but that doesn't always make sense in the context its used.

The thing is, that little word "go" has a lot of uses in Irish:

It can mean "to" (as in "ó bhaile go baile")

It can mark an adverb (as in "go mall").

When used with a dependent form of a verb, it can mean "that."

And yes...it can mean "until."

A busy word, for such a small one!
