On another site (and most of us might know which one) there was is request for a translation of

"hung like a horse"

As usual, with translations like this, it seems that the original requester has disappeared as, I think, the number of offerings were too varied and there was no consensus of a good translation.

Starting afresh, and learning from my mistakes , I would like to offer a translation, have it corrected or criticised and see other possible translations, in other words, a real working-together sort of thing . . .

If you are using a specific dialect in your translations, you should warn the requester which dialect you are using.

If you always provide a dialect translation rather than a standard one, you should indicate this in your signature so that people are made aware of the difference.

Yeah, i'd agree on not using the passive. Sounds stiff. (no pun intended)

It seems with the ability of come up with all sorts of colours in Irish, there may be no one specific way to say it, just like so many things and so many translations from English.
