I'm working on a lesson on comparative adjectives, and I'm suddenly drawing a blank on "ná" as it relates to following words. Would it be...

Tá mise níos airde ná Tadhg

Or...

Tá mise níos airde ná Thadhg

I want to lenite, but I'm not sure if instinct is serving me here.

Someone once told me that his teacher used to say "Ná never does nuthin'", which is an easy way to remember the rule. It certainly stuck with me!

I wouldn't soften it either after 'ná'...
ná Tadhg - is right

But you also have before a verb:

Ná habair é! - you're welcome!
Ná hith é! - don't eat it!
That's the only set of occasions a 'h' follows 'ná'... - i.e. before a vowel....
B'shin an t-aon uair a thagann 'h' i ndiaidh 'ná' ... - roimh ghuta....

But if I were saying:
He hadn't a chicken or a fish
then
Ní raibh sicín ná iasc aige.
...without any 'h'...

Anyway the "ná" which means "nor" and the "ná" that means "don't...!" (before verbs in the imperative) are not the same word.
