Hi there. I'm a member of 4lyrics.eu, a lyrics website focusing on Eurovision lyrics and lyrics from national finals, and I was hoping someone would be able to provide us with lyrics and an English translation for several Irish language songs that competed in the Irish NFs. Here's a list of songs that we're missing from our archive:

1992: Alannah - Le chéile arís
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FUt4Z3JpMM

1993: Roisín Ní Haodh - Mo mhúirnín óg
YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEDFxEIa5DQ

1994: Fiona Kennedy - Ni scaoilfidh mé leat go deo
YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iGFGNJHaPs

1995: Annette Griffin - Ó am go hAm
YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhzpmyzbUoU

1996: Sean Monaghan - Amhran an Ronnach
YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSrJwSEiJZs

1997: Helen Ui Dhunaird - Uaigneas
YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mkDh3DQOcqs

1998: The Vard Sisters - Seol
YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRAmZMsaik8
Sean Monagahan - Ina measc
YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1NJeJa7tdM

1999: Doona - An bon bon carr

What is a 'bon bon carr'?

I like this one.

If people are going to help with the words/translations of all or some of these songs, it might be better to separate them into individual threads. Is it likely that people will want to take them one by one? The original post looks far too big for anyone to attempt. If anyone shows an interest, we can separate the request. I will wait and see if anyone shows an interest.

Hi Michael welcome to the forum!

Its difficult to determine everything as the pronunciation is so poor and sometimes its difficult to hear everything in a song.

Le Chéile Arís Together Again

' Siúl liom féin tríd bealach gach saol*1 Walking by myself through every life's path
Brónach is buailte gach lá Sad(dened) and stricken every day

Tá mé i ngrá leat I am in love with you
____ go deo ____ forever
Tar ar ais dom mo ghrá Come back to me my love

Tá mé ag smaoineamh I am thinking
A' bhfuil tú ag caoineadh? Are you crying?
mar tá tú i bhfad uainn As you are far from us
Is brónach mo chroí My heart is sad(dened)

Tá mé ró-uaigneach I am to/so lonely
A' bhfuil tú ____? Are you ____?
Go mbeimíd go*2 súil le ' bheith le chéile arís That we'll be looking forward to being together again

Tríd an ____ Through the ____
An bhfuil ' fhios agaibh fós? Do ye know yet?

Cá bhfuil mo ghrá anocht? Where my love is tonight?

D'fhág sé mo shaol He left my life
gach ________ every ________
Aire, gur cailín seo bean*3 :?: Caution, that this girl is a woman

Ta mé ag smaoineamh I am thinking
A' bhfuil tú ag caoineadh? Are you crying?
Mar tá tú i bhfad uainn As you are far from us
Is brónach mo chroí Sad is my heart

Tá mé ró-uaigneach I am to/so lonely
A' bhfuil tú ____? Are you ____?
Go mbeimíd go súil le ' bheith le chéile arís That we'll be looking forward to being together again

Éist, Éist le mo ghair Listen, listen to my roar/ cry
Éist le mo chaoineadh Listen to my cry

Tá mé ag smaoineamh I am thinking
A' bhuil tú ag caoineadh? Are you crying?
Mar ta tú i bhfad uainn As you are far from us
Is brónach mo chroí Sad is my heart

Tá mé ró-uaigneach I am so lonely
A' bhfuil tú ____? Are you ____?
Go mbeimíd go súil le ' bheith le chéile arís That we'll be looking forward to being together again
(Lead singer singing melody:
>e chéile, le chéile, le chéile arís) Together, together, together again

Tá mé ag smaoineamh I am thinking
A' bhfuil tú ag caoineadh Are you crying?
mar tá tú i bhfad uainn As you are far from us
Is brónach mo chroí Sad is my heart
(Lead singer loudly:
i bhfad uainn, Is brónach mo chroí) Far from us, sad is my heart

Tá mé ró-uaigneach I am to/ so lonely
A' bhfuil tú ____? Are you ____?
Go mbeimíd go súil le ' bheith le chéile arís That we'll be looking forward to being together again
(Lead singer:
Le chéile, le chéile, le chéile arís) Together, together, together again

Some noise that sounds like cats being strangled to death
le chéile arís Together, together, together again

*1 I presume the singer meant to say " ' Siúl liom féin trí bhealach an tsaoil "Walking by myself through life's path.

*2 It should be "ag" but I am hearing "go"

*3 Aire, gur cailín seo bean*3 :?: Caution, that this girl is a woman (the grammar is awful, if this is what i am hearing?). It should be "go bhfuil an cailín (seo) ina bean" or "gur bean í an cailín seo"

Wait for further input!

Cian

Very sad song.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.
