A chairde,

The thirteenth annual San Francisco Deireadh Seachtaine Gaeltachta (Gaeltacht Weekend) starts this September 30 (in the evening), going through the evening of October 2. Whatever your level of Irish (even if you're only the newest beginner), this is a great opportunity to use your cúpla focal with other Irish learners and to work with top-level teachers in a fun, full-immersion environment.

Here's more information:

Hope to see you there!

Sounds great.

You high on Irish now ? :D Like Alan when he comes back from GCC.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

Yup. You should have heard me mixing up my words when I got home Sunday night...I kept forgetting and trying to speak to poor Tony in Irish! And I've dreamed in Irish for the past two nights.

Our DSG is actually modeled on Oideas Gael (they provide the teachers...in fact, Liam usually comes and teaches level 3, but he injured his foot right before this year, so Ronán came in his place). When I went to GCC in 2008, I felt right at home, as the format was so familiar.

I had to leave early on the Sunday, but it was a lot of fun, and I learned a lot. I may have found a conversation group to participate in as well.

So that's why you weren't in the group photo!

I always carry something particular home with me from the DSG. Last year the light bulb went on over relative clauses. This year it's the use of the pronoun in answers to questions using the copula. I found the exercise in recognizing masculine and feminine nouns super helpful as well. Éamonn's a great teacher!
