Does the following sentence:
Tá a fhios aige cad atá á dhéanamh aige
mean:
He knows what he has to do.
or is it an idiom for:
He is confident about his abilities.
Or has it both meanings?

Tá a fhios aige cad atá á dhéanamh aige would translate as - He knows what he is doing.
"He knows what he has to do" would translate as: Tá a fhios aige cad atá le déanamh aige
