Hello everyone,

My grandfather passed away last night and I would like to get a tattoo in his honor. He was as Irish as they come and was very fond of saying "It's a wonderful life". It was sort of a mantra for him. I would like to get this as a tattoo but I am not sure the translation that google translate came out with is correct and I would really appreciate any help you can offer... The translation I received was "Ta' Se' Ina Saol Iontach".

Any help you could offer me would be very much appreciated,

Thanks

Matt

Hmm...you could go that route (but it would be "Tá Sé ina Saol Iontach." Those accent marks must go over the vowels.) I'd be inclined to take a different approach, however. Perhaps...

Saol Iontach Atá Ann: It's a wonderful life

Tá an Saol go hIontach: Life is wonderful

Wait for more input, please.

:good:
But I'd throw a copula in there to make it a sentence.

I'd prefer-
Tá an saol go breá.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

No need for the copula there AFAIK.

Yeah...that would probably make it more complete.

Not forgetting: Is iontach/breá an saol é!

All of the above. :good:

(My own choice would be one of Errigal's offerings, Is iontach an saol é "It's a wonderful life" or Is breá an saol é "It's a fine life".)
