Thanks for looking at this! I checked out the link that you listed. Can you tell me why the parentheses are there and if they are needed in that quote?
I will wait, of course, to see if there are any other suggestions for these quotes.

I think it just adds an optional emphasis, i.e., the difference between "life isn't about ..." versus "life is NOT about ..." (Ní saol é is literally "It's not a life" and ní saol ar bith é literally means "it's no life". )

I don't see vvhy it's 'le bheith' [courtesy Doire Trasna] instead of just 'bheith' [as I vvrote summer of last year on IGTF, unfortunately mis-expressing vvhy not 'le bheith' , then getting a derisive snort from scooby and a vvell-meaning piece from mvvhombat on 'le+ainm bhriartha'. Never got roun to explainngi vvhat I really meant].

I agree with Errigal here. The le is misplaced. Le bheith indicates a purpose or objective, but bheith here is the subject of the sentence! The meaning is that ‘waiting […] is no life at all’; not that ‘it’s not a life for waiting […]’.

I also think the mar shaol bit sounds out of place. It works with a finite verb, to give detail about the subject (tháinig sé, mar Bhriain as in the example quoted by Scooby in one of the older threads), but after a classificatory copula sentence where the subject is already familiar and doesn’t represent any new information, it just doesn’t sound right in my little cloigeann.

I’d phrase the whole thing differently, to be honest:

Ní fanacht le deireadh na stoirme atá sa tsaol seo, ach foghlaim damhsa san fhearthainn

I think the "Life isn't about ..." part is a very English idiom, so kk's is on a better track. How about:

Ná caith do shaol ag fanacht le deireadh na stoirme - bí ag damhsa san fhearthainn.
"Don't waste your life waiting for the storm to pass - dance in the rain"
