While we're dealing with our own advertising crisis over at IGTF, can I take a moment to direct attention to what's happening with at least one clothing company here in the U.S.?

Stereotypes abound, sadly, but some are worse than others. The racism exhibited by Urban Outfitters is intolerable, and must be stopped. I strongly urge all of you, wherever you're from (Urban Outfitters markets internationally) to voice your anger over this company portraying Irish people and Irish Americans as drunks. This kind of bigotry would not be tolerated here for any other race, and the fact that it seems to be "OK" to target the Irish in this way is utterly abhorrent.

You can sign an on-line petition here:

http://www.change.org/petitions/urban-o ... m=own_wall

You can email them your opinions here:

service@urbanoutfitters.com

Let's let them know that this just isn't OK!

If anyone wants an idea of the kind of merchandise that Redwolf is referring to, here is a link with some further info:

Hi all,

Ok, a problem here there very well may be, but if so, why not show it to us Redwolf?

If you're highlighting an issue, do you not think that a few examples of what is going on could be necessary?

Thanks to Saoirse for providing a link, but I can't believe that Bríd Mhór and Beagle seem to have blindly signed the petition without even the first scrap of evidence of a problem.

Rant over.

B.

I knew what Redwolf was talking about because I had seen it online myself previously.
And no, I don't go signing petitions without knowing what they are about. :D

Ok. My faith in you has been restored :)

I suppose my main issue is with Redwolf. I mean if there is a problem you want us to know about, show it to us! :)

You might have thought of a nicer way to ask, instead of just blowing off at me.

When I posted that link, there were examples of the T-shirts and caps embedded in it.

In any case, the whole furor with Urban Outfitters has been all over the web...in the news, on Facebook, on IGTF, etc.
