Hey there, I am hoping somebody can help me?? I am looking for two names translated or written in Ogham (if possible). The names are Amber Glen or... in Irish:
Ómra ghleanna
I would be sooooo grateful if anyone out there can do this.

The problem with ogham is that not only do you need a large stone, but it has to have corner on it where you carve all those awkward-looking lines onto it, and then nobody understands it. I've tried carving but it makes a mess of the screen and as for tattoos it doesn't look good at all. You might want to consider using Seanchló, it looks much better, but when you need to write a lenition you'll have put a point in instead of the 'h'. (My point's usually Guinness)

Since names can't be translated (those translations are for other words with the same spelling), you may as well transcribe the names directly into Ogham phonetically:

᚛ᚙᚋᚁᚏ᚜(AEMBR)
᚛ᚌᚂᚓᚅ᚜(GLEN)
᚛ᚙᚋᚁᚏ ᚌᚂᚓᚅ᚜(AEMBR GLEN)

The above may garble if you don't have the right fonts installed on your computer.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

Anyway in Modern Irish it'd be gleann ómra (word-order in Modern Irish is different from English)

normally Ogham was used to transcribe pre-historical Irish.

in pre-historical Irish, Amber Glen should be something like:

GLENDOS AMBRI

I don't know how to type in Ogham here unfortunately

I kind of have a feeling that "Amber" is meant as a first name here and that "Glen" is a surname. In which case, it really wouldn't make sense to translate them.

I meant to check on that. There should be three lines with the marks > and < at either end. If you see only blank spaces or boxes or if there are any gaps between the marks, then the ogham text is garbled.



I checked in the other side (this is one Bríd brought over ) and it is apparently two given names "Amber" and "Glen".


Whichever way we did it though, it would still be anachronistic.
