It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.

It is, if:

A) You already have a keyboard set up that way, and are accustomed to using it.

or...

B) You don't have to change where other things are on your existing keyboard to jury rig an ALT GR key.

The problem is, the layout of the standard American keyboard has to change in order to do that. It wouldn't be so bad if obscure characters were moved, but when you lose track of where your @ key has gone, that can be a bit of a problem!

Yeah, US keyboards don't make it easy to use non-ASCII characters. I once sent my sister in the States an e-mail saying it was 75°F here, and she was all impressed that I had used a degree sign and wanted to know how to get it. On my German keyboard, it's easy: Shift-^; the ^ key is just to the left of the 1, in the upper left-hand corner of the keyboard. But on an American keyboard you have to type Alt-248.

In the upper right-hand corner I have a key for ´ and `, and I just press that followed by the vowel letter to get á é í ó ú. (Pressing shift together with the ´` key gets me the grave accent so I could type in Scòttìsh Gàèlìc if I wanted to.) The "AltGr + vowel" trick doesn't work on German keyboards: "AltGr + E" gets you €, and nothing happens at all with AltGr + the other vowels. So it's all a matter of knowing how to get the symbols you want on the keyboard you're using.
