The main problem this time was not letting the other mods know I would be away.

I was in Mayo for most of yesterday, picking up my new dog Oisín. Then tired when I got back. :(

It would be nice if the mods got an email notification when people make a report.

I am sure that I should have known to do that but that's handy to know.

And if Errigal had half the money you are being paid, he'd have bought a nevv keyboard by novv! :darklaugh:

There doesn't appear to be any way to set those notifications, a Bhríd.

I think it is up to us as a community to spot intruders together and nab them, though, rather than relying on the gates and security staff to protect us. What I would like people to do when they see spam is:

1. Report the post (i.e., click the ! button in the spam post.)

then

2. PM the modhnóirí (mods) to let them know there is spam about. In your PM menus there is a Group menu that should allow you to PM the mods without having to select them individually (otherwise just PM Breandán.) The PM notification system should then automatically notify the moderators for you.

The same goes for other types of trouble such as trolling. The mods can't always read every post every day, but we can all keep an eye out together. If you see something odd, please let us know.

PS: Please also let us know if you see an unfamiliar name in brown with the rank Toirmeascaí (Banned) floating in the members list. It will probably be a banned spammer who activated his or her account after the banning (the account will be unusable but may still show up in the list until removed.)

Feel free to PM me too.

I'm going off duty now for the next 12 hours or so. zzzzz

Is the ! button only for mods, or does it not become available until a new member has 10 posts? There's a new spam topic at the top of this board this morning, but I can't find any way to report it.
:(

miseféin, thanks for wanting to help. :good: Unfortunately your buttons and PMs won't appear until you've made 7 more posts. Hang in there!

Well Brendan...that'll teach you not to be a loving son-in-law, great husband, father and family man. You turn your back on us and the whole site is littered with Viagra and transcendental meditation or philosophical pollutants when you return (sort of like Moses coming back down from the mountain with the Torah).
