Lovely suggestions above. I'd just like to draw everybody's attention to the following in the forum rules:
Quote:
Translators, please use the bold tag "[ b ]" to make translations and suggestions more prominent among the explanations and discussions.
If your translation or suggestion is non-standard or you are contrasting a dialect translation with a standard one or you use old spelling, please mark each clearly with:
(GC) for Connacht Irish;
(GM) for Munster Irish;
(GU) for Ulster Irish;
(CO) for standard Irish;
(SL) for old spelling
If your translation or suggestion uses old spelling, you might also like to consider using the Bunchló Ársa font and ponc séimhithe to give people a hint to look it up in Dinneen instead of FGB.

If you don't wish to mark your suggestions or translations with a dialect or spelling code, then a statement of your preference in your signature would be helpful, preferably in a way even beginners can understand. We respect your right to use dialects and old spelling, please make your intention clear so that others don't inadvertantly attempt to "standardise" your contributions. Thank you for your co-operation.
If you have given a dialect or old spelling version, please EITHER:
1. Indicate that after each suggestion using a combination of labels (GM) (SL), etc, as indicated in the forum rules;
OR
2. Indicate in each post that all examples in the post are in a particular dialect or spelling convention;
OR
Make a statement or declaration of your personal policy to that effect in your signature, i.e., that your suggestions will be of a certain dialect, style, etc., (and then indicate when you provide suggestions in other dialects or standard instead.)
Please note regarding such declarations that the rules also say "in a way even beginners can understand." That means that even if you choose to include a sample of the declaration in that dialect or style in your signature,
please also provide a translation in plain English. This is helpful to
beginners, who may still need to be shown which dialects are which. (Anyone who can read your signature only in Irish can probably already deduce what the dialect and spelling is without an explanation.

)
So, thanks to those who already follow the forum rules in this regard and to those of you who have made suggestions above and may not have realised that we had such guidelines on ILF, I would respectfully ask that you to back and edit your posts accordingly. In particular, please ensure that the Irish suggestions are in
bold (using the [ b ] tag), and make sure you have an English explanation in your signature.
