I want to get a tattoo to show my pride for my Irish ancestry. I found this (d'iaróibh Éireannach) on the web but could not verify it. I would appreciate a translation of this to Gaelic/Irish or I am also very open to suggestions on any phrase or quote that would represent my pride of my ancestry.

This is accurate. It literally means "of Irish "base"". It sounds more poetic in Irish! That's just a literal translation for you to get the idea.

You could also say d'fhuil na nGael. Literally "of Irish blood"

Thanks for your suggestions. I continue to research but still haven't gotten 3 matches. I've waited quite some time now so I won't tattoo until I'm sure it's correct.

There's many way to say this in Irish:

(I prefer the use of Gaelach rather than Éireannach, but that's just me personally)

de shliocht Gaelach or d'iaróibh Gaelach of Irish decent

d'oidhreacht Gaelach of Irish heritage

de bhunadh na nGael (As we have seen already) of Irish base

d'fhuil Ghaelach (As we have seen already) of Irish blood

Which one do you prefer Mike or which one is more appropriate for your needs. You gave a broad description and what we prefer is kind of subjective in this case. If you want to get the sense of being proud in there you could always add in the word proud:

Bródúil

Be careful though because the spelling will change due to the gender of the noun in the sentence i.e

d'fhuil bhródúil Ghaelach of proud Irish blood

but

de shliocht brodúil Gaelach of proud Irish descent

de phór Gaelach (CO)
de phór na nGael (CO)
=
of Irish seed/breed.

Out of interest, I think pór is often feminine in Ulster: do phór Ghaelach (GU)

Cian, I like the structure and sound of the phrase "of Irish blood". I also like the way it translates to "d'fhuil na nGael". If this is correct, I prefer it over "d'fhuil Ghaelach" which you suggested. Is my preference ok to use? It's such a great language but confusing to me as well. Thanks for your help.
