That link is to Hart's Pedigrees, with which I have worked in doing my own genealogical research, but people using Hart's need to keep its limits in mind. It has good records for many Norman, English, Scottish, and other families who settled in Ireland, and the "native" Irish families with whom they intermarried extensively, but the records on other Irish families are sparse, and many quite common Irish names are found only in passing here and there. Once you get back into early Norman and pre-Norman times, the records can be very hit or miss, and the farther back one goes, the closer it gets to legend or outright fantasy.

I know this is OT, however, my curiosity is growing, lol. But Is there a better resource for Irish surnames?

Unfortunately during the Civil War, the Four Courts were used as a store for explosives and were shot at with cannons supplied by (and apparently operated by) British soldiers. There's some film of it happening on YouTube - so a lot of the national archives went up in smoke.

For just the names themselves, with a bit of history as to where and/or how they originated, a good source is MacLysaght's Surnames of Ireland, which has been republished repeatedly and is usually available on Amazon.
