I have recently learnt of the French musician Alan Stivell, who has apparently contributed much to the popularity of (pseudo?-)Celtic Music today. And I must say his music isn't bad, but... Well...

Neither is that Irish nor is that Breton.

So, what do you say? Do I respect his valiant effort or do I put him in the corner of shame?

EDIT: Whoops.

Actually that song is in badly pronounced Irish and in badly pronounced Breton :) That often happens when someone sings in languages one doesn't speak or at least not fluently...

But Stivell's songs popularize the Celtic languages, so... Many people (including myself) started to learn Breton thanks to his songs :)

Yes, that is definitely a plus.

Well, I must say, I quite like his early works. His music is one of the reasons that got me into Celtic languages too. :)

Féar plé dó :)
I wonder why he didn't make much effort to improve his Breton (and his Irish - at least in pronunciation for his songs)...
