I am thinking of forming/affiliating with an Irish Club (perhaps Conradh na Gaeilge chapter) in the valley where I live. The place is
named after the Brazos River, which was named by the Spaniards "Brazos de Dios". (The arms of God). I'm looking for
ideas. Does "Gleann na Sciathán" mean "Valley of the Arms"? or would it just be "Gleann Sciathán". So, the name would end
up being something like Conradh na Gaeilge-Gleann Sciathán..... course I could just leave it in English, but thought I'd investigate this.

Any ideas?

I think the version with the article sounds better:

Gleann na Sciathán (GU)

That would be "Valley of the Arms" up North, and "Valley of the Wings" in Connemara and Munster, but the image is nice either way.

To form the genitive of a place name, simply lenite the first letter:

Conradh na Gaeilge Ghleann na Sciathán

I agree with Breandán's advice. You could also just use a comma, which wouldn't be unusual:
