Recording for Forvo, I started at the top of a list I have (which is based on word length) and added over ten of them. They were kind of long, but fun to try and say in 2.5 seconds.

If anyone else is feeling adventurous, have a go at them!

Maith thú. Pity you can only see the top 5 users by pronunciation by language .

although all you need is over 109 pronunciations to get on that list :)

Pity I didnt keep track of the few words which I came across which were very badly pronounced, you could have given a better alternative.

There are indeed a few clangers in there!

Here's the direct link: http://www.forvo.com/user/FuaimFactory/

It only took an hour to do 60 or more. At full pelt 100/h would be easy

Here's the long ones!:

Jay Bee, nice work on the pronunciations.

Just a request from the editors, if you are going to add any more "long words", please spell them correctly, including capitals and síntí fada and leave out the underbar please.

Also, before you all jump in to put a pronunciation on Forvo, please note that only native-level pronunciations will be accepted. Non-native pronunciations will be edited out as per Forvo rules.

Recordings may also be dropped if the sound quality or pronunciation is not clear, so please be sure to pronounce each word or phrase carefully and clearly.

Great, I have a list of about 5,000 words and phrases for which I have no pronunciation audio ( out of about 8,000).
If you take a week off work you should be able to record them all.

Brendán,
will it have to be the editor that does that? Sorry, I took them out of the dictionary; it there are any bad spellings, it wasn't me!

There are a number of non-native pronunciations on the site, actually

But they can only be put in word by word!

Yes, Bríd and I have to edit the spellings of any that aren't input properly one by one. :S

Even though it states that only native speakers should record, Forvo has no real checks. It is up to the editors to sort it all out.

A lot of weirdness happened before Bríd became an editor but she has really turned it around. I have been giving her a hand since I became an editor.

If you notice unnatural pronunciations or poor recordings, you should send a message to the editor of the language in question.

A Dháithí, you would be welcome to add the words for others to pronounce. That is how it works - people who can't speak a given language are encouraged to add the words as a form of request for native speakers to record them.
