Forvo is not for having a go. It's to help people with proper pronunciation. So please don't pronounce words you are not sure of. And checking the spelling is correct is always appreciated too.

Pity I didn't keep track of the few words which I came across which were very badly pronounced, you could have given a better alternative.
If you see a word that is badly pronounced, or bad sound quality, mark it as “bad”, and it will come to the editors attention. You can also do a report, or PM an editor directly.

Just a request from the editors, if you are going to add any more "long words", please spell them correctly, including capitals and síntí fada and leave out the underbar please.
Also, before you all jump in to put a pronunciation on Forvo, please note that only native-level pronunciations will be accepted. Non-native pronunciations will be edited out as per Forvo rules.
Recordings may also be dropped if the sound quality or pronunciation is not clear, so please be sure to pronounce each word or phrase carefully and clearly.
I agree with Breandán.
I can't correct those particular ones with underscores at the moment. The admins corrected one for me. But the others are confusing the system. I may have to axe them all.

I have a list of about 5,000 words and phrases for which I have no pronunciation audio.
Phrases are against the rules unless they are idiom, slogans, common greetings, poem or song titles etc.
Look up the words individually first. They are most likely there already.

Brendán,
will it have to be the editor that does that? Sorry, I took them out of the dictionary; it there are any bad spellings, it wasn't me!
Yes, Bríd and I have to edit the spellings of any that aren't input properly one by one.

There are a number of non-native pronunciations on the site, actually
Even though it states that only native speakers should record, Forvo has no real checks. It is up to the editors to sort it all out.
A lot of weirdness happened before Bríd became an editor but she has really turned it around. I have been giving her a hand since I became an editor.
If you notice unnatural pronunciations or poor recordings, you should send a message to the editor of the language in question.

Great, I have a list of about 5,000 words and phrases for which I have no pronunciation audio ( out of about 8,000).
If you take a week off work you should be able to record them all.
But they can only be put in word by word!
A Dháithí, you would be welcome to add the words for others to pronounce. That is how it works - people who can't speak a given language are encouraged to add the words as a form of request for native speakers to record them.
Yes. That’s how Forvo works.
Thanks for the compliment Breandán. You have done a lot to make Irish Forvo what it is now too. We are a team.

Is there any way to bulk upload words? I've 40,000 of them...
If one day I logged in and found 40,000 new entries I’d throw in the towel. LOL.
If you and Daithí email me a list in the format "
word, word, word, word," I can add them in bulk for you.
Like I told a previous bulk contributor I personally prefer batches of hundreds.
I’m so glad that Braoin is a regular contributor now too.
