I've split this off into its own thread.

Are there some particular place names you are looking for?

"Drake Passage" = "Drake Strait" Caolas Drake (focal.ie)

(If I were to translate "Passage" in this context, I'd use Bealach, after an Bealach Siar ó Thuaidh "the North-West Passage", giving Bealach Drake, but since Caolas Drake is already in focal.ie, it is the safer bet.)

"the Indian Ridge" an Droim Indiach
"the Mid-Indian Ridge" an Droim Indiach Láir

"South-East" in placenames is usually Thoir Theas.

By extension:

"the South-East Indian Ridge" an Droim Indiach Thoir Theas

(Proofing welcome)

That looks correct :good:

We call the local strait "caoláire",but maybe that's because it's a very small one. Go with the dictionary definition.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.
