Hi I am looking for a translation of "As long as I breathe I hope"

I have got this.... Fad is go mbionn an anail ionam beidh doch as agam is this close? also I am sure there are supposed to be accents somewhere and is probably grammatically incorrect as I asked my cousin who never paid much attention in school!


Asking the earth here but also would someone be able to write the correct pronunciation for me too?

I would say "a fhad is a análfaidh mé beidh dóchas agam".

or in natural Irish (Ulster): a fhad is a análóchas mé beidh dóchas agam.

There may be other ways to say this, but working with what you have already, first you can't leave out the accents in Irish:

Fad is go mbíonn an anáil ionam beidh dóchas agam

Next, fad is (= a fhad is ...) takes a direct relative and there is a set expression fad a bheidh an anáil ionam (FGB) "as long as I live" (the is is optional but I prefer it in), so I would say:

Fad is a bheidh an anáil ionam beidh dóchas agam
FUD iss uh veyn UN-awl oon-um bey DOH-khas uh-gum
/fa:d əs ə w´eiN anɑ:l´ uNəm b´ei do:xəs a:gəm/

@Lughaidh - análfaidh would be better if the "breathe" in the original English only meant that, but it has an implication of "being alive", so I think the established idiom is preferable, but as always there is more than one correct translation.

I’ll second Breandán’s, it looks perfectly fine. I’d add a comma after ionam, that’s all.

Always wait for at least three people to agree on a translation, especially if it’s for something permanent.

My translations are usually GU (Ulster Irish), unless CO (Standard Orthography) is requested.

If I use the same expression as Breandán it would be, in Ulster Irish:

A fhad is a bheas an anál ionam beidh dóchas agam.

(the comma isn't mandatory; looks like anál ends with a broad L in the nominative in Ulster)
