I would like to get a translation from the following English dedication into standard Irish Gaelic: "May my music in this collection keep your spirit free. For my friend Colm. Best Wishes Dáithí"

Hi, Davey. Like your site.

For the translation, perhaps:

Go gcuire an ceol sa chnuasach seo agam misneach ort coinneáil a bheith gan srian. Do mo chara Colm. Le gach dea-ghuí, Dáithí.

Oops, forgot to say "Wait for correction or confirmation ..."

I thought it was Daithí but I might be wrong. I think you're overcomplicating it on order to avoid a literal translation. What do you think?

I thought it was too, but I checked at Irish Identity and they have Dáithí. So then I checked again and the guitar player/singer is Dáithí Sproule (and I have been misreading it all these years. )

This is why I am asking for more input.

 Please simplify it for us!

Go gcoimeáda ceol an bhailiúcháin/chnuasaigh (I assume that's the genitive, I'm not really familiar with that word) seo do spiorad saor

Now I've written it, it does seem a bit too literal. At least it's out there, we can see what others think. ;)
