I'm a Scot and I'm writing a novel set in Ireland. I'm very familiar with the country, especially Kerry where I have friends and Dublin. I don't have the Gaelic though nor does my wife - even though she'd half Irish herself [from Cavan].

Can anyone assist me in translating the following sentences?

It would be "ar Éirinn" in the standard (dative case).

Go n-ithe an cat thú, agus go n-ithe an diabhal an cat: May the cat eat you and the devil eat the cat. I don't know if it's actually a traditional curse, but some sites claim it is.
