Courtesy of Tim, IGTF, 2005! Thought it was worth posting; might get a laugh; shouldn't cause offence, but might; may add a new word or two to somebody's vocab!

Here's a joke some of you may have heard in English:

An Mháistreás Scoile: Tá cúig éan ina suí ar chraobh, a Sheáin.
Maraíonn tú ceann acu le do raidhfil. Cé mhéad acu atá fágtha?

Johnny: Ceann ar bith! Scanraigh an t-urchar chun siúil iad.

An MS: Ní hea. Is é ceithre éan an freagra ceart. Ach is maith liom do cuid réasúnaíochta.

Johnny: An bhfuil cead agam ceist mar sin a chur ort, a Mháistreás?

An MS: Bhuel, umm, ceart go leor.

Johnny: Tá triúr ban ina suí ar bhinse sa bpáirc. Tá an lá te agus táid ag ithe reoiteoige. Tá bean amháin ag líochan a cuid reoiteoige. Tá bean eile á diúl. Baineann an treas bean greimeanna bídeacha aisti. Cé acu atá pósta?

An MS: Ummm, uhh, níl a fhios agam . . . an bhean a dhiúlann a cuid
reoiteoige?

Johnny: Ní hea. An bhean a bhfuil fáinne ar a méar. Ach is maith
liom do chuid réasúnaíochta!

If you enjoyed it, I'll take the credit for 'borrowing' it from another site; if you didn't, feel free to register your complaints on IGTF...... When they have finished posting annoying ads, I'm sure they'll eventually get around to dealing with any issues you may have.

It is recommended that you always wait for three to agree on a translation.
I speak Connemara Irish, and my input will often reflect that.
I will do an mp3 file on request for short translations.
