A chairde,

I remember the following lines from a poem I learned ar scoil fadó, fadó:
"Cad a dhéanfaimid feasta gan adhmad?
Tá deireadh na coillte ar lár."

Would anyone have the full poem and perhaps the Corresponding English translation?

Go raibh maith agaibh,
Gearóid

Go raibh maith agaibh for the quick response.

I like this phrase
"Cad a dhéanfaimid feasta gan ...".

I was thinking of having a T-shirt printed with
"Cad a dhéanfaimid feasta gan ola?"
on it.

Have a nice day
Bíodh lá maith agaibh

Gearóid

Oil for my bike is all I will be able to afford if fuel prices keep going. A 4c increase per litre this week alone. :(

There are a whole lot of typos in that version, plus it has older spellings in some cases and then not in others. Here's a version which I think is pretty clean (there are a few differences in word choice between the two, but not many):

Cad a dhéanfaimid feasta gan adhmad,
tá deireadh na gcoillte ar lár.
Níl trácht ar Chill Chais ná a teaghlach,
‘s ní chluinfear a cling go brách,
an áit úd ‘na gcónaiodh an dei-bhean,
fuair gradam is meidhir thar mnáibh,
bhíodh iarlaí ag tarraingt thar toinn ann,
‘s an t-Aifreann binn dá rá.

Ní chluinim fuaim lachan ná gé ann,
ná iolar ag éamh cois cuain,
ná fiú na mbeacha chun saothair,
[a] thabharfadh míl agus céir don tslua:
Níl ceol binn milis na n-éan ann,
le hamharc an lae [ag] dul uainn,
ná an chuaichin i mbarra na gcraobh ann,
ó ’s í chuirfeadh an saol chun suain.

Tá ceo ag titim ar chraobh ann,
ná glanann le grein ná lá.
Tá smúit ag titim ón spéir ann,
‘s a cuid uisce go leir ag trá,
Níl coll, níl cuileann, níl caor ann,
ach clocha ‘gus maolchlochan.
páirc na foraoise gan chraobh ann,
is d’imigh an géim chun fáin.

Anois mar bharr ar gach míghreann,
chuaigh prionsa na nGael thar sáil.
anonn le hainnir na míne,
fuair gradam sa Fhrainc ‘s sa Spáinn.
Anois tá a cuallacht dá caoineadh,
d’fhaigheadh airgead buí agus bán,
‘s í nach dtógfadh seilbh na ndaoine
‘s í cara na bhfiorbhochtan.

Aicim ar Mhuire ‘s ar Íosa,
go dtaga sí arís chughainn slán,
go mbeidh rincí fada ‘gabháil timpeall,
ceol fidil ‘s tinte cnámh,
go dtógfar an baile seo ár sinsear,
Cill Chais bhreá, arís go hard,
is go brách nó go dtiocfaidh an díle
ná feicfear é arís ar lár.
