I know I've asked about vampires and shape-shifters (over at that other one) but I was just wondering about other paranormal words/or even just mythical words in general. Anything found in the Paranormal/Supernatural/Fantasy worlds. I'm more curious than anything but here are some examples of what I mean...

Faeries
Witches
Demons
Werewolf (or any other 'were' animal)
Pixie
Dragon
Nymphs
Mermaids
Unicorns

Basically any of those and/or anything else that falls in the paranormal/supernatural/fantasy/mythical/etc category.

singular /plural
Faeries is that the same as fairies if so = síóg / síóga
Witches - many different words, Bean Sí is a particular one who haunts certain families before a member of the family dies. If there were a plural it 'd be mná sí. Other witches - cailleach / cailleacha or ??
Demons = deamhan / deamhain
Werewolf (or any other 'were' animal) - We have a werepoodle here
Pixie = síóg / síóga
Dragon = dragan / dragain, they never made it across the Irish Sea
Nymphs = not in Ireland afaik, not really sure what they are.
Mermaids = Maighdean mhara
Unicorns = aonbheannach / aonbheannaigh - not in Ireland either but that term is in the dictionary

but isn't the bean sí a kind of fairy or sthg like that? To me a witch is a woman (a living one) that practices witchcraft, while a fairy and the bean sí are kinds of spirits, ie. paranormal beings

I think there's a word like "bandraíodóir" as "witch" in the dictionaries; I think "cailleach" is mainly "old witch"

They are Greek I think they'd be called síóg in Irish, ie. same word as fairies.
