Please help! I want to sing Fionnghuala, but I can't seem to find a pronunciation anywhere. The actual spellings make no sence to my american brain. Can someone please give me a phonetic spelling for the words?

I know some people are opposed to someone singing a song if they don't know the meaning. The truth is, I do. Even if I can't speak scottish-gaelic, I can still use the internet. I can find the translation perfectly fine, thank you very much. I appreciate your help!

My "specialty" is Connemara Irish, particularly Cois Fhairrge dialect, but I can also speak Ulster and Munster Irish with native-level pronunciation.
Is fearr Gaeilge ḃriste ná Béarla cliste, cinnte, aċ i ḃfad níos fearr aríst í Gaeilge ḃinn ḃeo na nGaeltaċtaí.
Gaeilge Chonnacht (GC), go háraid Gaeilge Chois Fhairrge (GCF), Gaeilic Uladh (GU), Gaelainn na Mumhan (GM), agus Gaeilge an Chaighdeáin Oifigiúil (CO).

I'd suggest one changed line (which is repeated), a Lughaidh:

Cha d'thuirt an dadan a' seo = kha doorsht uh nah-duhn uh shoh

My transcription is based on the Lewis pronunciation, as I know it.
I think "thuirt" isn't "hoorsht" but "hoort" with a retroflex t (in Lewis, at least). And d's are pronounced like unaspirated t's.
If the singers of Bothy Band don't pronounce like that (especially for the d's), it might be because they are influenced by the Irish pronunciation...
